Lithium-ion battery cells for electric vehicles, consumer electronics, and energy storage systems are becoming increasingly affordable. Mass production, optimized production lines, and advances in battery technology and cell chemistry have ensured that today around 13 kilowatt hours of electricity can be generated with an investment of US$1,000, 116 times more than 35 years ago.
